Hockey Legends of Jhansi
Major Dhyanchand is one of the best hockey legends of India, who helped the country realize the dream of getting medals at the Olympics. He was born in Jhansi in 1905. His efforts won India Gold medal in the Olympics: 1928 Amsterdam Olympics, 1932 Los Angeles Olympics and 1936 Berlin Olympics. He retired from the hockey arena at the peak of his prowess, at the age of 31, and continued to be associated with Army hockey. Dhyanchand's monumental statue at Sipri Hills in Jhansi is a landmark of the city.
Subodh Khandekha, Tushaar Khandekhar and Abdul Azeez have represented India at various international hockey tournaments including the Commonwealth and Olympic Games are born in Jhansi.
