Babina is located 1 kilometer from Jhansi and was established during the time of British Raj in India during early 1900s. It was originally meant to be the British Army base in native India. It has now grown to be the largest army base in Asia having a total army area of 2,749 acres of land. Babina Cantonment in Uttar Pradesh is the oldest cantonment in India and has been developing the infrastructure of the locality incessantly since its inception. Today Jhansi is the Headquarters of the 31st Indian Armored Division, which houses some of the sophisticated army machines and equipments.
The Babina Cantonment was formed in August 1959, and a separate Cantonment Board was established with a view to foster development and settlement in this part of the city. The Station Commander is the President of the Board, which functions as per the Cantonment rules of 1924. As per the 2011 census the total civilian population stands at 18,000 and the military population is 13,000. Besides providing civic amenities, the Cantonment Board also provides basic healthcare and education to the weaker sections of the society.

The park is currently maintained by the Cantonment where one can get a fair knowledge about the life and times of the British officers who had relocated to Jhansi during the 18th century. The cemeteries and memory stones of the British soldiers are a solemn memory of the turbulent times of history.

The Sacred Heart Church and the Roman Catholic Church are among the oldest churches in the city of Jhansi. They are currently being maintained by the Jhansi Diocese, and is located within the Cantonment area. These churches were built by the British in the early 20th Century with an aim to create places of worship for the British officers and their officers who were posted in India. These churches have been relatively well maintained even to this day, and are great examples of medieval architecture.
Cantonment Park The Cantonment Park is a recreational park in Babina, which has well maintained lawns and pathways for walks and tracks for jogging/running. It is a popular garden among the residents here.
This Nag Mandir is popular for its scene and sights during early morning hours. It's a haven among believers during the festivals of Nag Panchami.
